This glossary focuses on the most common terms used in the Mohan program.
Angulating |
Moving in the diagonal and lateral planes in a flexing and extending fashion. These movements affect balance, turning, edging, and pressure control. |
Balloon turns |
An exercise to reduce breaking at the waist and other balance issues. Have the student pretend to be a balloon and fill themselves with air until they are about to burst, then have them let out a little air and sink into the cuff of their boots. |
Comfort Zone |
A gentle enough slope where the student is not threatened by the environment or the tasks to be performed. |
Drinks on a Tray |
A drill where the poles are held together in front of the body as if you are carrying a tray with the goal of not spilling your favorite beverage. There are many variations of holding the poles in front as you ski, and this drill is the most common. |
